Built and detailed by my dad. Matte topcoated and posed by me.
Got this kit for my dad’s birthday recently… is what I would say, but this was my present for him for his last birthday… and it’s coming up again in a few days. It would take him basically an entire year to finally start working on it, but then again, he has been a very busy man… busy with his new beloved RC drift car hobby that of course made it into a small business.
Nonetheless, he finally worked on the kit, and wow was it surprising to hear how much difficulty he was having as soon as he started working. He lost the monoeye and had to create one from scratch using clear part of the runner, the pieces weren’t fitting right, which he did not realize that one of the pieces were not oriented the right way. For the very man that got me into the hobby all these years ago, my skill on Gunpla has evolved immensely, while his has faltered over the years. I guess I was once a learner, but now I am the master. Though, my dad is slowly becoming my old man, he basically had a hard time in the beginning because of his declining eyesight due to age, so if I’m ever gifting him another kit, well giving him another RG or a Ver.Ka is out of the question.
For the kit itself, while I was barely part of the actual build, it is one beefy boi. It’s probably the closest we’ll see a 1/100 RG besides MG Gramps 3.0, and the articulation is wild. This is our very first Zeong, so it’s crazy how menacing a design can be without having any legs. The entire bottom is absolutely absurd, which you are able to showcase because of insane ab crunch that’s shown in the first image. Panel lines and decals add detail to the already detailed kit, and using the last of a can, the flat topcoat, as usual, puts the cherry on top of this wonderful kit.
Welp, my dad’s not gonna build another kit in a while, while I’m already on my 2nd (mecha musume) kit of the month. Until I build another Gunpla kit again!
