After making many posts on this subreddit showcasing the several mecha girls I’ve built in the past 5 months alone, I’m finally posting my very first girl that got me into the rabbit hole in the first place, now with the extra polish she deserves—this is the 30MS Neverlia in all her glory!
Back when I posted Lirly Bell months ago, I mentioned how I impulsively bought Neverlia—this was a time before I told my dad about my interest in this subsection of this plastic crack of a hobby, and I had no idea how my dad would react to being interested in this sort of thing, so everything regarding Neverlia—from the box, from the build, to even displaying her once finished, was all hidden by my father—and how I had to hide it from him was simply keeping her displayed in my room, and if he ever noticed it by himself, I’d spill the beans. Unlike my other mecha girls where I display them in our room full of Gundam builds, Neverlia has always stayed with me (Lirly Bell was with her for a while until my dad got the Siren, but she’s with someone again with Rishetta), and oh boy I hope that doesn’t give you any weird ideas.
But… what is weird is that Neverlia, despite being my very first mecha girl that also stays in my room, has neverlia been given the amount of detail that I’ve given to my other girls. All I’ve done was panel line her, and even when I did spill the beans to my dad about my new hobby, Neverlia stayed the same. However, sometime during the summer, I did decide to flatcoat her out of the blue, not giving her any additional detailing, just topcoating her, and honestly I kinda regretted it as the coat frosted her up, and that kinda sucked.
Then, Rishetta came along to join Neverlia in my room, and each time I kept looking at them, I was really admiring the work I did for Rishetta, while feeling ashamed that I didn’t do the same for Neverlia. Problem was, I already coated Neverlia, which cleaning excess paint was not going to be as easy as it is with bare plastic, which I thought about getting some upgrade gear for her and paint that… but I just spent over an ungodly amount acquiring a Durga Darkness Queen, so, since I recently proved that I can hand paint with painted plastic, I decided to upgrade her for free—give her a whole ass makeover on top of her coated plastic. And, yeah I went overboard with my hand painting, but boy was it worth it. Unlike Rishetta, Neverlia has more surface detail, giving more areas to paint, so I went all out. I used a lot of Vallejo Gunmetal and Red paint to break the amounts of purple she has on herself, and I didn’t expect to go crazy on her wings and trident, but, I did, and honestly I don’t remember how I got them to be what they are. I gave her more decals than I did with Rishetta’s base body, and removed her back hair as it interfered a lot with her head movement.
For the end result, I was like damn, I finally gave Neverlia the hand-painting and decal treatment. I’m still wondering if I did it too much, but, why not? She looks cooler than ever and accentuates her devilish look even more with the red I gave her. I’m just glad that I gave Neverlia what I should’ve given her a while back. Now she can stand as equal with Rishetta, who now look like sisters more than ever with their similar color schemes and red highlights. “Enhancing” Neverlia was a totally spontaneous move, but, I guess it’s in line with Neverlia’s existence—all based on impulsivity. I thought it would be cool to have Rishetta princess carry her because of her wings, and, uh, oops, I guess I’ll be displaying them like that for the time being. That’s all I got for now, and I’ll see you again with my next build!
