Another week, another girl done. Here’s Stylet Swimsuit Ver, a kit I wanted and had so much time to get her on Suruga-ya, but didn’t due to budget and space constraints, and once she was sold out on Suruga-ya… uh, she never came back in stock. Desperate to obtain her at all, I made the rare decision of pre-ordering her off of Mecha Warehouse since she was estimated to come out in May… and she finally arrived on the last week of July. I wasn’t feeling too bad about it since the hype was already going towards other Koto releases at the time, but I really shoulda just gotten her on Suru when I had the chance.
Anyway, I wanted this version of Stylet after my surprise delights with Hresvelgr Bikini and Innocentia Racer, as she looked like she shared the same philosophy those two gals had—being cute and simple, and I can definitely vouch that she is just that, along with just being so much more robust than either Hres or Innocentia. A majority of this Stylet is brand new, being considerably thicker than her original counterpart, having a rarity called double jointed elbows, strange new thighs deriving from Izumo, and having really impressive color separation for a Frame Arms Girl. The swimsuit and the legs really flourish in colors, having 4 multi-colored parts for just the torso alone, yet I’m kinda mad they didn’t commit fully to the separation as the white stripes on at the belly still need to be painted. Out of the three gals I’ve built this month, Stylet’s the most involved build, needing a lot of sanding to do hide the seam lines, and just having quite a few parts to get that color separation going. She comes with the many optional ear pieces like Innocentia, which I didn’t bother to cut since she came with unique ones as shown, and her two guns are honestly some of the best guns I’ve seen on the line as they pack quite a bit in color and detail.
However, the build ain’t perfect. The weird butt-thigh separation parts are a pain to deal with as it messes with the hips from properly closing, the ball neck joint needs sanding, and you’re gonna need glue in a few places to keep your sanity in check. Her giant twintails are held by really weak ball joints that I had no choice but to cement them, and had a much better time dealing with them as they can still swivel to the side. The sharp on the thighs also like to pop out like a bitch, so I also glued them in place.
As for detailing, I just did the essentials and a few additions here and there. On top of following the manual, I just dabbed a bit of white and sea blue here and there, and put even more white detail with the included decals and some generic Delpi Decal caution water slides. I did a gloss coat to protect the hand paint from scratching, left it to cure overnight, then did the usual flat coat, and what the fuck the white paint scratched as soon as I connected the torso pieces together.
Finally, it was time to pose her, and wow does her color scheme really pop in my lightbox. You would think because she has flat shoes, she would be able to stand just fine, but no, because of her plane nose backpack and surprisingly heavy twintails, she cannot balance herself for shit. The stand they provide sucks as it can’t bear the weight of her, and it’s so unreliable that the promotional images exclusively use a dedicated stand, which I did for posing. Outside of the right leg having a tendency to pop off, Stylet was really fun and enjoyable to pose with, especially with her cool guns and really cute faces. The double jointed elbows help a lot getting her to hold her long gun with both hands, and there’s a lot of ways to get those guns posed. She also fits right along with Hres and Innocentia, having that summer, kinda race queen aesthetic, but she’s also just a lifeguard if you think about it, she has the sunglasses, the swimsuit… and the gun could probably be used as a rescue tube.
Overall, Stylet was fun, cute and thankfully not much as a pain as Utage or Sourei. I’ve been blitzing through my backlog which I’m probably going to stop so that I don’t get burnt out. It’s been fun the past few weeks, but I wanna get my Gundam backlog moving along, that is if my dad continues to not paint his Optimus Prime. It’s been like 3 weeks, am I gonna need to start nagging at him or something? Anyway, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
